When one thinks of graphics cards and GPUs, two names spring to mind straight away - Nvidia and ATI, now owned by AMD of course. But that's not to say that they are alone in the gaming / digital media landscape. S3 Graphics has been around in one form or another since 1989 and is still in the game today, announcing its latest graphics architecture last Friday. The new S3 Graphics Chrome 400 Series GPUs will offer users a rock solid HD video experience and DirectX 10.1 gaming in a package that promises the best performance to watt ratio of any GPU currently out there.
Ideal for small and light notebook PCs, home theater PCs and power-efficient desktops, the Chrome 400 Series GPUs have the potential to offer the latest gaming engine and a true HD video experience (ala1080p) to PC designs that would have ordinarily been prohibited from boasting such specs due to power and heat issues. The Chrome 400 Series will be produced using the latest 65nm manufacturing process and should strengthen S3 Graphics' position as a third player in the graphics card market.
