S3 Graphics today announced Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL) Certification for its Chrome 400 Series graphics processors.
Last week Microsoft released a public version of the latest update to Windows Vista, Windows Vista Service Pack 1. Vista SP1 also includes the latest revision of their gaming architecture, DirectX 10.1. DirectX is a collection of APIs or 'Application Programming Interfaces' that are used by game developers to create the the graphical rendering and images that combine to make a game work on the Windows platform. DirectX 10 is only available on Windows Vista, while the latest 10.1 requires the forementioned Vista SP1.
So what does all this mean? In simple English it means that S3 Graphics can now work with game developers to offer gamers using S3 Graphics cards, like the recently released Chrome 430 GT, the best gaming experience possible. DirectX 10.1 offers improved rendering realism by increasing the filtering and computational precision of the images produced in the game. Again, simply put, this means that there will less jagged lines and blockiness, and more realistic graphics.
For a closer look at DirectX 10 compared with DirectX 9, click the 'read more' link below.
Here is a screen shot of a DirectX 9 rendering taken from Microsoft Flight SimulatorX.

And here's the same shot rendered by the DirectX 10 engine. Note how much more detail we can see in the water and clouds. DirectX 10.1 should bring further enhancements in detail.

Hey
That was a nice post.
Like the way you wrote.
Online games have been expanding like wildfire lately.
Plethoras of gaming website coming up lately are a testimony to this.
However as a core gamer, I found many of them missing the depth.
Of the many WATGame was the one that caught my attention. Clearly written by a passionate gamer, the articles had that distinctive feel to them.
I would like to know of any more that you would like to suggest on such topics.
Happy Writing!
